How to export files/data taken from the field to Google Earth or other software (most compatible)?

The following answer to this question about PC-MAPPER also applies to PC-GIS and PC-GPS.
To export data to Google Earth, save the job as a .kml file in LLA coordinate system. You can open a .kml file in Google Earth.
Most common GIS software can work with Shapefiles. You can export the job data as Shapefiles.
You can specify the file format in the Data Source Box, which by default shows: “CMT Feature File (*.FTR)”.
