About installing CMT GPS GIS software on Windows PC

Please follow the procedure provided in the software installation instructions closely. If the automated installation misses a step, that could affect the outcome in various ways. For example, the symbols library files might not be installed properly, or the software would appear to run properly except that a certain function might not work. Sometimes the Validation Code would be wiped out by a Windows silent update. Therefore, we advise installing the software manually as the administrator of the PC and also make sure that Window UAC (User Account Control) security is set to the lowest level during the installation.

Will the lines drawn by using the palette tool in PC-GIS X export to DXF?

“So if I export the Map/Add line by Mouse from PCGISX to DXF will the new lines show up in CAD when the DXF is uploaded? … If I use the line draw from the palette tool, will those lines show up in CAD?”

All GPS and digitized Features can be exported in DXF format and will show up in AutoCAD. Please note that the color and pattern assignments will not be exported to DXF. The figures created by using the drawing tools are not Features, and therefore will not export to DXF.

Question about CMT PC Software License

“I would like some assistance regarding the installation of the PC-Mapper license on a computer. Currently, the license is only applied to one profile/user. Could you please explain how to adjust this so that different profiles/users can use the software on the same computer?”

The CMT PC software license applies to the computer only. Our software does not have restriction on who uses it on that computer. Perhaps your IT people has implemented that restriction on profile/user?

Does CMT Forester work ok with windows 11?

“I am on 10 and getting offers for free upgrade but did not want to have any problems.”

Most third-party software will run in Windows 11 that is not in the S mode (designed for additional security). Windows 11 S mode is only available in the Windows 11 Home Edition.

Per Microsoft, if you run Windows 11 in S mode, you will only be able to use apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store. You can switch out of the S mode, but the switch will be permanent.
